 William O. and Carrie (Ballard) Bates

Carrie Sarah Ballard was born to Hudson and Mary (Cordin)Ballard in about 1864.

William Orrin Bates (aka W. O.) was born 10 November 1857 in Story County, Iowa to Mathew and Cynthia (Bentley) Bates. He was the 3rd child but the 1st to grow to adulthood.

W. O. and Carrie married on 27 November 1888 in Story City, Story County, Iowa.

  6. Lucien “Pete” Ballard Bates: b. 2 May 1904, d. 28 Aug 1975. Married Nina [last name unknown].

  7. Irene P. Bates: b. 15 March1906, d. 30 January 2000. Married Claude W. Hendrickson on 4 May 1927 in Butler, Missouri.

Death

BATES — Mrs. Carrie Bates, 94, Harrisonville, died yesterday at the Harrisonville rest home after an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Bates, a native of Story County, Iowa, had lived in Bates County, Missouri, 50 years. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Florence Witter, 1710 Bruch Creek boulevard; Mrs. Doris Pope, Hoxie, Kas., and Mrs. Irene Henrickson, 1526 Cedar, Independence, and two sons, Lucien Bates, 2016 East Eighty-second street terrace, and Karl Bates, Garden City, Mo.”
