“Ben F. Clark, Former Brayton Resident, Dies
Word was received by Mrs. R. O. Clark today of the death of her last husband’s brother, Ben F. Clark, formerly of the Brayton vicinity, who died this morning at his home at Orient, Ia., after an illness of two years with paralysis.
Ben F. Clark was born June 22, 1877, on a farm near Anita. When a small child his parents moved to the Brayton vicinity, where he grew to manhood. He married Louisa Jones of Brayton on July 1, 1905. Later they moved to Orient, where he farmed until two years ago, when ill health forced him to quit.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Arthur of Orient, Garner of Minnesota; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Gilbertson and Mrs. Ruth Holmes, both of Orient, and one grandchild. He is also survived by one brother, George C. Clark of Creston, and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Bell and Mrs. Elsie Gustafson of Orient. One brother, Roscoe, and one sister, Mrs. Joe Shirey, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Orient and burial will be in the Orient cemetery.” [2]
“Rites Held for Louisa Clark
ORIENT - Funeral services for Mrs. Louisa Clark of Orient were held at 2:00 p.m. last Saturday at the Bickford-Murray funeral home at Greenfield. Rev. Ross O. Shinn, pastor of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in Orient, officiated. Music at the service was by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bickford who were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Donald Hogan. Flowers were in charge of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Reed and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Campbell. Casket bearers were Roy Slezak. Wilton Winn, Clair Ramsbottom, Lonnie Weed, William Harry and Robert Ritchhart. Burial was in the Orient cemetery.
Mrs. Clark, born June 11, 1885, at Brayton, died at the Adair county Memorial hospital at Greenfield on Feb. 8.“ [3]
