16 August 1874 - 15 August 1945

[5]

[5]

Lew Lamb was the 6th and youngest child of Hiram and Sarah Lamb. He was born in Union County, Iowa on 16 August 1874. His childhood and young adulthood were spent in Murray, Clarke County, Iowa. He married Katherine “Kate” Fivecoat on 19 September 1894[9]. The couple had one child, Claude Leon Lamb, born 14 March 1895. Katherine passed away from complications of a surgery in 1919. Seven years later, in 1926, Lew married Cleona Effie Smith. Lew and Cleona lived in Creston, Iowa where they raised 7 children, excluding a stillborn.

Lew worked on the railroad as a brakeman for the CB&Q line. Later he earned his living as a painter. He was often hired to paint the exterior of tall structures, such as church steeples or water towers, as the heights did not bother him.

Lew passed away on August 15, 1945, a day shy of his 71st birthday, from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was buried in the Murray Cemetery, Murray, Iowa
